IF HE WANTED TO, HE WOULD… AND HE WILL ACCORDING TO HIS WILL
Question. Is every girl living in their best solo, “healing journey POV: elevating my self-care, here’s my gym schedule and all my spa-like appointments I prioritize. Oh, and I’m also overhauling my entire diet” era right now?
I can’t help but notice it on my feed these days (could also be my new algorithm forming)—- my IG took the hint. All the girlies have been leveling up and actively promoting it.
I mean congratulations to everyone involved. I’m loving the think pieces ♡ and creative video outputs. I’m also loving these constant reminders to pour into ourselves, affirm ourselves, and if you’re in the middle of healing you’re not going through these things alone. So many of us are as well.
There have been so many testimonies about returning to God as well. People who’ve finally had the chance to look up and noticed just how far they’ve strayed. New Bible readers out the woodworks, the sermons are increasing… I’ve been both excited and nervous (James 1:26, Matthew 7:15, Matthew 15:8). However, the more genuine hearts on fire for the Lord the merrier. There’s plenty of room.
Very coincidentally and unfortunately, I was also starting to see an influx of breakup content around the new year. Whether it was right before or right after the 1st, the theme was ok it’s January we’re cleansing and renewing. Cut it off and do it fast!!!
Out with the old and back into the field for new beginnings I guess. With breakup content came dating content… but don’t let you be reaffirming your walk with Christ while simultaneously entering this market hun.
As expected, the negative Nancies came crawling out. Sorry to any Nancy reading this… I’m speaking about the ones who find it hard not to spew hatred or bitterness in the direction of growth. Real growth.
“You’re only acting this way because Christianity is popular now, modesty is also trending poser—only posting and pretending for clout not practicing—only doing this ‘Jesus stuff’ so He sends you a man”
I saw comments like these pouring under a popular influencer’s page. One who has, yes, made a shift in her creative content. But do we actually have the authority to assume and judge her motives or anyone’s for that matter? Whether they’re good or not behind changing what’s our business?
Furthermore, if they enter the house under one purpose do we not trust God to refine and purify their hearts to exit anew? It’s not how you start is how you finish kinda? If they’re truly open to it that is.
Everyone’s journey to and with God is personal and delicate between Him and them. I don’t know the topics they’ve been talking through and I’m not going to act like I do. I refuse to skate that fine line separating curiosity maybe a bit of suspicion and then just being rude.
Anyway, to the accusers, if there was a time to use the phrase “if He wanted to He would.” Let’s go over the fact that God really will. According to His will, not ours.
Long and short of it all, there’s no way for us to manipulate the will of God. Not by lying to ourselves, to other people and most definitely not to Him. Psalm 139 says that God has searched us and knows us. He already knows the intentions in our hearts.
It’s a tale as old as time for people to try and con their way into getting what they want. To selfishly try and rush the things they feel are meant for them. But to think you can get one over on God? Nowhere are we all promised to have romantic partners. And you can’t play Christianity as something to receive a material gain from either. While you’re here convinced you have the upper hand on the author remember our stories have already been written.
Sarai and Abram believed they can rush themselves into what they wanted from God by doing things their way and we know how that went (Genesis 16)
God is not a genie. If your plan of action is to “trick” or manipulate your way up you’ll be in for a ride. Stupid games stupid prizes, right? Talk to God because you love Him and want to connect with Him not because you want something from Him. It doesn’t work that way. Spread the gospel because you believe in it not because it’ll make you look good/attractive to others. It also ultimately doesn’t work that way. This is a relationship on its own.
Taking a step back you’ll see religion is viewed on the outside almost in a formula. "If you do this who/what you worship will give that in return." Very mechanical with guarantees. "I've followed the rules, so I am owed a happy life" (or a healthy family, or a prospering business, various things). But that sort of "faith" is faith in a formula, not in God.
Submit to His will. Surrender control and thank Him for life. Build a connection and love Him unconditionally. Whatever will be will be.
He is more than able to fulfill your pure in heart desires without you having to execute some elaborate scheme for it. He’s the one doing the work in the background. And remember, most of your dreams and desires come from Him for a reason. Bigger picture. A lot of the excitement is just in the waiting. In the building and preparing. You know how much we enjoy that over here. 😏
